Phil Shawe, Liz Elting
Phil Shawe and Liz Elting met at New York University's Stern School of Business and co-founded TransPerfect in 1992 out of a dorm room, recognizing an unmet need for high-quality, service-oriented translation services for global businesses. They bootstrapped the company from a two-person operation to a billion-dollar enterprise with no external financing in the early years. In 2018, Shawe completed a court-approved buyout of Elting and has since served as sole CEO, continuing to drive expansion into AI, media, legal tech, and data annotation.
