Founders

Phil Dixon Jr., Chad Labonte

Phil Dixon Jr. is CEO and co-founder of American Surf Parks, who began developing the Surfworks concept in October 2016 after identifying Myrtle Beach's large surf community and tourist base as underserved due to the area's poor natural wave conditions. Chad Labonte is co-founder and COO, and has prior experience as a real estate developer and land manager, having previously managed destination development projects in Florida. Together, they launched Surfworks Myrtle Beach, LLC in 2020 to bring South Carolina's first artificial wave surf park to the Grand Strand.
