Jonny McCoy is a Myrtle Beach-based civil rights and criminal defense attorney, suicide attempt survivor, and recovering addict who created WhiteFlag after being unable to find peer support that truly connected him with others who understood his struggles. He funded the app entirely from his attorney fee earned in the landmark Julian Betton v. City of Myrtle Beach civil rights case, which settled for $11.25M — the largest in South Carolina history at the time. Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jessica LoPresti brings clinical psychology credibility to the platform, while co-founders Trent Tinker (CTO) and Billy Howard (CIO) are fellow Myrtle Beach natives who round out the founding team.
